Nudity does not suit model Candice Boucher’s image in South Africa. No-one in SA will ever see Candice strip off, capisce? (Apart from the thousands of South Africans who saw this nude photo shoot online when she was US Playboy’s April cover girl last year, I suppose).
Playboy SA was disappointed to learn that Miss Boucher was not keen on the magazine featuring the shoot by its US counterpart in its August issue. Apparently her agent believes that publishing the images in South Africa would not suit her image here.
“Since Playboy is an international brand and we all work together, we are allowed to use different photo shoots from Playboy magazines around the world,” said Playboy SA’s new editor-in-chief Charl du Plessis.
“We had decided out of common courtesy to first ask Candice and her agent if they were okay with it,” he said. “We did not want her waking up one morning and then getting the surprise of her life that she is in the Playboy SA magazine.”
Strange, that.
Does anyone else think she just doesn’t want to be in Playboy SA, period? In light of the rocky launch of Playboy locally, not least the controversial resignation of launch editor Peter Piegl last month, maybe the reality is that Playboy SA does not suit Candice’s image?
