Wife of the State Security Minister and convicted drug smuggler, Sheryl Cwele, will once again be enjoying her full salary, even though she’s a serious criminal.
Convicted drug smuggler, Cwele, will be spending 12 years in jail, but apparently she still has the right to her full salary. She was suspended with effect from the tenth of June, without pay. But she has taken the Hibiscus Coast Municipality to court to reverse the pay decision.
The municipality had a quick think about the situation, consulted various political parties within the municipality (read ANC), and decided that they’d probably fail to oppose Cwele’s submission, so they decided to pay her full salary instead.
Cwele will now be entitled to full pay, pending the outcome of a disciplinary hearing into her conduct. Apparently, a court finding of guilty of the crime of drug smuggling, isn’t sufficient evidence to remove her from the payroll.
Spokesman Mkhize, of the council, said of the situation:
We understand and are aware of the interest this has within the public and mainly the media. As the municipality we will ensure to give an update whenever it is necessary. However, we would not like to speculate on sentiments hence due to processes that have to be observed and respected.
Hoorah! Yet another victory for South Africa’s credibility has been achieved.
