There cannot possibly be a cooler animal than this: A mutant snake with two heads. And now, for your entertainment, you can see one. All you have to do is go to the Ukraine, famous for its beautiful nuclear-wasteland, Chernobyl.
It seems rather apt that a snake with two heads should be seen in a country with its fair share of nuclear fallout. Apparently, the snake’s two heads, each completely independent of the other, are fiercely independent and are not adverse to stealing food from each other.
Zoo director Oleg Zubkov says:
Sometimes one head wants to crawl in one direction and the other head in another direction.
Zoo worker Ruslan Yakovenko, of the Skazka, or “Fairy Tale” zoo, says that he has to feed them separately otherwise they fight each other for food.
If it is really hungry, its heads may steal food from each other. The second head may get angry, but both then feel satiation because they only have one stomach.
The three-year-old snake is on loan from a German zoo and has caused the number of visitors to double since it went on display earlier this month.
Science really needs to invest more money into making two-headed snakes. Seriously.
