Next time you’re on the beach (and frankly, given the current weather in Cape Town, that may be later today), bear in mind that there’s more to the scenery than meets the eye.  Sand is ba-yoodiful, too – beyond what our human eyes can perceive.  Have a look at these shots of tiny grains of sand magnified to 250 times their real size.

Dr Gary Greenberg, who specialises in micro-imagery, has published a gallery of impressive vhealthportal.com images encapsulating the wonder of nature, art and science.

He says on his website, “Every grain of sand in the world is unique and beautiful when viewed through the microscope. If each grain of sand is so beautiful and unique, imagine how beautiful and unique each person is?” So true Gary, so true.
