You’ve got to see this with your own two eyes. The existence of a previously ‘unknown’ group of indigenous Brazilian people has just been confirmed, and the footage is fascinating.
These Amazon dwellers have been living in isolation from modern industrial society and pretty much invisibly until now, following the release of aerial photos by advocacy group Survival International.
The video above shows what is believed to be the first contact made with the group in 1996. The photos below, which were made public in recent days, show a birds-eye view of the dwellings of the group right now.
“Probably 20 or 30 people could fit in [this house structure],” says Survival International research director Fiona WatsonWatson. “You can see smaller structures toward the back of the house. These could be areas for cooking, or storing things. I’ve been to indigenous villages where they have separate structures for keeping the large birds from which they pluck feathers to make arrows.”
