A couple in Orange County, California, is selling a chair on eBay, with a starting bid of $25 000. But this isn’t any old chair. This is a special chair, a magical healing chair with the face of Jesus on it.
“Their will always be one,” is a saying that I have to tell myself when I ask why anyone would possibly pay $25 000 for a chair that has a marking on it that looks sort of like Jesus.
The Jesus Chair was discovered to be “holy” by it’s owner, Lou Balducci, who had purchased it at Home Goods some ten years ago. His wife Lynn said they were throwing away some old cushions when the image appeared from beneath them.
Lynn, who believes that the chair is a blessing from God, said:
He didn’t think too much of it at first. He showed it to me and to a few of our friends and everyone agreed that it was indeed an image of Jesus.
The listing on eBay states that people have travelled from “all around the world” to “experience the healing powers of the chair.”
The couple says that they would like to “let the world enjoy” the chair, which is the very least I’d expect for a chair that costs $25 000.
My favourite bit of this story is that they claim that they’re not “overly religious”, but the image cannot be disputed. Um, well it can, but they’re hoping someone just crazy enough, with $25 000, won’t dispute it.
