A mother is suing the Mpumalanga department of health for negligence on the part of the hospital which delivered her son, to the tune of R7 million. The boy allegedly suffered severe injuries during birth. He is now eight years old.
The Kwaggafontein woman, Magaret Moremedi, is arguing that the nurses who helped deliver the child were negligent and failed to follow proper procedures.
Moremedi claims midwives at the KwaMhlanga Hospital attempted a vacuum delivery to help her give birth to the boy in 2003. This resulted in severe scalp damage to the child.
Eight years later, one wonders how seriously the department of health will take your case, Margaret.
