Brent Rumble – on the right.
There’s just no stopping our local filmmakers abroad! Take Mister Brent Rumble from Brooks Institute in Santa Barbara for example – not only was his short film, The Dissolution, scripted and made in a mere 10 days, but it has also won an award at the prestigious Santa Barbara International Film Festival.
Brent’s film was part of the 10-10-10 competition that challenges 10 teams of high school students – two people per team, comprising a filmmaker and screenwriter – to make a 10 minute video in the 10 days of the Santa Barbara International Film Festival. His teammate was Katherine Waskul from the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB). Their film tells the story of a Middle Eastern scientist at UCSB who is treated with growing prejudice in the days after 9/11. The won a sweet $500 prize for their noble efforts.
And now ladies and gentlemen, feast your eyes on this crafty piece of filmmaking, and remember this name: Brent Rumble.
