Men have tried all sorts of ways to score chicks, including buying puppies and borrowing babies. But recently a Chicago man thought he had an idea that would trump them all: keep an alligator.

The appropriately named Dewayne Yarbrough, 43, has been charged with possession of a dangerous animal. He kept the alligator in a small tank and fed it ten mice a day to keep it from growing too large. He says he paid $200 dollars for the gator to impress girls.

Animal control wouldn’t comment on how they found the animal, fed in Yarborough’s kitchen. The reptilian chick magnet was taken to the Animal Welfare league and will then be moved to the Chicago Herpetological society.
