Around 3,000 words have been added this year in the “most comprehensive Scrabble wordlist ever produced,” which I would be more upset about if most of my Scrabble games didn’t end in tears and fire. Also included: ‘innit,’ ‘thang,’ ‘fansite,’ and ‘Facebook.’

Says Collings English Dictionaries editor Robert Groves:

“These additions are an eclectic mix of new technological jargon, overseas English, recent colloquialisms, street slang, and a few phrases that had not made it on to the list until now.”

Groves then had to split to go jive with the hip cats over some malts at the multiplex.
