I’ve been keeping an eye on what I refer to as the ‘jet-pack issue’ since I was a small child. I am of course referring to the personal jet-backpack we first saw James Bond use in Thunderball. It was understood that Bond might be ahead of the game and it may well take a bit of time for such toys to become publicly available. Fair enough.
Although I probably didn’t include the word ‘issue’ in that phrase when I was a child – time was on my side – I kind of assumed they would get it right within the next decade or two. Evidently not. It has now officially become an issue. Malibu even gave it a mention the other day in her Inventions We’re Still Waiting For post.
But right now I suggest you have a look at this video to see where we are when it comes to the ‘Jet-Pack Issue’. Once we’ve done that, I will touch on the ‘ice-machine issue.’

What did you think of that video? The soundtrack was nothing short of preposterous.
It’s quite a cool toy, I guess. But it’s like those radio-controlled cars with a wire joining the remote to the car. What’s the point? You must admit, it was a little awkward at the 2:27 mark on that video – when the man realised he couldn’t get over the bridge..
I want to fly over Hospital Bend, my man. I don’t want to be attached to water the whole time. I know what you’re saying – it’s just a bit of fun. Fine. But we’re ignoring the fact that we have not progressed and mass-produced something like this.
While we’re at it, I would just like to say that the guys that invented and worked on the home ice-maker machine, are lazy ass punks. Your jobs are not finished, guys! The size of the unit, compared to the ice production, is pathetic! It looks to me like you made one block of ice, shouted ‘Eureka!’ and went on to make the TV more flat. You’ve done well there, but now that TVs are as flat as a pancake, do you think you could possibly go back and sort out the ice machine?
Seriously – you can even stop whatever you’re doing with that 3D TV shit as well – we just need some drinks for now.
