The use of the FourSquare application has been popular to say the least. You know, you sign yourself in at a particular place in a brave attempt to make others jealous of where you currently are, it shows up in your various newsfeeds and boom, you are instantly cool. Now there’s FearSquare.
The new website has launched in the United Kingdom and hopes to add other countries soon.
Essentially it looks at your last 10 check-ins on FourSquare and tells you how many crimes, robberies, violence and “anti-social” behaviour have been committed in those locations.
Data comes from the UK Police Crime Statistics database and is therefore taken as reliable.
FearSquare explains:
The FearSquare application takes a list of your ten most recent FourSquare check-ins and cross-references these with the UK Police Crime Statistics database.
In this way, we can show people how many crimes were committed, during a recent one-month period, in the locations where they checked-in.
The intention is to give you a uniquely individual look at the levels and types of crimes you are exposed to in your daily life.
As a bonus to looking at your own check-ins, you can peruse the leaderboard to see who lives the most dangerously.
At last look, Charing Cross Road was looking pretty hectique.
