A US teacher has landed herself in some deep poo after a teaching stunt of hers went wrong. In order to help her class understand the American Civil War better, she staged a mock auction of black and mixed-race students in her primary school classroom.

The principal of the school, Mary B. Wrushen, said however that the activity presented was “inappropriate for the students”, and that teaching methods such as these were “not supported by the school or division.” She also promised “appropriate personnel action.”

The teacher in question, Jessica Boyle, separated black and mixed-race fourth-graders from their white classmates and “auctioned” them. She has yet to comment on the “method” behind her madness.
