Some time ago Top Gear aired a show in which the Tesla Roadster electric car was put through it’s paces. It ran out of electricity, and then had to be pushed back into the garage. Tesla said the test was rigged, and they plan on getting even.
Back in 2008 Top Gear ran a test in which the Tesla raced against the Lotus Elise, on which it’s based. At the time, the Tesla ran out of power after 90 kilometres. Tesla refuted the claim that their vehicle had run out of power, fist raised in ire.
Even so, Top Gear stuck to it’s guns on the issue, but did admit that the Tesla did not, in fact, run out of fuel, but that it was representing what could happen if it did. All a bit strange.
The specific show is still on repeat and available on DVD, thus Tesla is suitably unhappy and has said, “The BBC’s conduct has given us no choice but to sue them and clear up their lies.”
Watch this space, all shall be revealed, even if it is via court transcript.
