In typical Pakistani/ Bangladeshi style, the good people of Bangladesh have seen it fit to stone the house of their captain Shakib Al Hasan, after their humiliating defeat to the West Indies in the World Cup.
Shakib’s mother and sister were in the three-storey house when a group of marauding bikers came riding down the street, throwing stones at the house. Mashrur Reza, father of Shakib, said that the stones broke a number of windows, including Shakib’s room’s, this despite the already tightened security.
Fans also stoned the bus that the West Indies were travelling in, but police claim that this was merely a case of mistaken identity as they had intended to stone the Bangladeshi bus.
To add fuel to a literal fire, around 3000 fans also torched Bangladesh jerseys and held protest marches on the Dhaka University campus.
I just don’t get why they like to burn their own team kit so much in that part of the world. I just don’t.
