Due to the growing occurrence of ‘Facebook suicides’ – individuals who use their Facebook profiles to post suicide notes or final messages – a help system has been put in place, which allows users concerned about potentially suicidal friends to report the activity to Facebook, which will trigger a hotline response reaching out to the depressed party.
Which is morbid. And is probably less effective than having a concerned friend physically meet with their depressed buddy. And is in all likelihood going to be the subject of intense prankery in the weeks to come. And despite all that, not a terrible idea.
