Let’s start with the Mini Rocketman, which is slightly smaller than the current Cooper and slightly longer than the original 1960’s Mini. The design is pretty cheeky and the double-hinged doors are pretty cool, making things a bit easier when getting in and out of those tight spots at Cape Quarter. Apparently paper is used in the doors to reduce weight. So don’t get in any prangs.
One of the show’s biggest draw cards is the Lamborghini LP700-4 Aventador. Powered by a 6,5-litre V12 engine with maximum outputs of 515 kW and 690 N.m of torgue, the Lamborghini claims a zero to 100 km/h sprint time of 2,9 seconds. Lambo’s boss, Stephan Winkelmann, told the media that they have already sold more than 12 months of production, around 700 units. Lamborghini also believe the new car will outsell its predecessor, the Lamborghini Murcielago, which had sales totalling 4 099 units.
The Koenigsegg Agera R was also unveiled with its twin-turbo 5,0-litre V8, which develops 831 kW and a massive 1 200 N.m of torque. Sorry for you, Veyron. This vehicle is so exclusive that the car featured at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show was a privately owned model.
You read about Volkswagen’s Bulli concept here. Oh you didn’t? Do it.
And this ladies and gentleman, is the new Audi A3 concept. What do you think?
I say we end off this roundup with the Ferrari FF, even though loads of images and details have been out for a while, Ferrari only officially unveiled the all-new Ferrari FF at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show.
So there you have it. Can you feel the excitement mounting for JIMS (that’s Johannesburg International Motor Show if you didn’t know), starting on the 6th of October? I can. In my body.
