In what is being described as a miracle, a Pretoria man has survived being shot 17 times.
Johan Groenewald, 38, says he remembers turning around and ending up quite literally staring down the barrel of a gun.
“I cocked my pistol and then all hell broke loose,” said Groenewald.
“I remember being shot and I felt how I was shot. I remember shooting back but after that not much.”
Groenewald was discarded from hospital with his body covered in marks from where the bullets hit him. He broke his thigh in the incident and his right ring finger had to be amputated after being hit by a bullet.
You may be surprised to hear, or not actually, that the police have yet to take his statement and the suspects also got bail. Ah the joys of the South African justice system.
At least Groenewald can now begin his Hip-Hop career, safe in the knowledge that no one can say he’s not legit.
