So! New York’s Health Department released a smartphone app for finding free condom distribution points via GPS on Monday. Yes, I know, me and everybody’s grandma used ‘there’s an app for that’ as the headline, but that’s because me and everybody’s grandma have an awesome sense of humour.
I mean, it’s sort of weird because it assumes that people who can afford phones with access to the Android Market or iPhone App Store can’t afford to pay for condoms, and I’m of the opinion that it’s usually the effort, rather than price, of obtaining contraception that generally leads to unprotected bumping of uglies, but hey! Props to the NY Health Department for trying to move condom distribution into the next generation.
