If, for some reason you haven’t seen Wayne Rooney’s breathtaking goal against Manchester City from Saturday, here it is again, in all it’s magnificence and glory.
Rooney said it was the best goal he’s ever scored and Alex Ferguson said it was the greatest strike he’d seen in 25 years at Old Trafford.
Seconds before Rooney put the ball into the top right-hand corner my father complained that Nani just doesn’t pass enough. As if on cue, Nani floated a ball most effetely just over Rooney, who then bicycle kicked it with all the fury he could muster.
In his interview with Sky Sports Rooney said: “I saw it coming over and I thought why not? Nine times out of 10 they go into the stand.”
Alex Ferguson said that the quality of Rooney’s strike reminded him of the great Dennis Law, who scored 171 goals for United.
All I can say is “Roooooooneeeeaaayyyyy!”
