Friday night was mental, Saturday was spent recovering in the Breede and the evening was again off the charts. Catherine from 5fm called Up the creek “the best festival in South Africa”. I tend to agree.
I wasn’t exactly present for all of the acts, but highlights from Friday (that I can remember) included aKing, Dirty Skirts’ collaboration with the Rudimentals on “homewrecker’ and Idols winner Elvis Blue holding his own in front of a very boisterous 2am crowd.
There just aren’t many better ways to spend a Saturday than floating on a lilo on the breede with a few thousand people, listening to good tunes, while nursing the hangover with a few beers. The evening’s acts was kick started by versatile comedian Nik Rabinovitz, who had the crowd eating out of his hands for the entire hour. The musical acts carried it forward with strong performances from the likes of Bed On Bricks, Taxi Violence and Flash Republic.
The organisers got it spot on with Lonesome Dave entertaining the hungover crowd on Sunday. Not sure who played after that- the weekend had to end somewhere.
