Be thankful for the fact that we’ve only had one incident in recent history where our national anthem was raped with supporting video evidence. Ras Dumisani – I’m looking at you. But, as usual, the Americans are leading the pack, and can even boast a “Top 10” of all the kak attempts by celebrities to make Star-Spangled Banner “their own”.

My personal favourites include R. Kelly’s bump and grind version in the middle of a boxing ring, with two people actually slow dancing around him. Or  Roseanne Barr singing the anthem in exactly the same way she talks in real life. And then there is Michael Bolton’s version. And Hilary Clinton.

Other entries in the Top 10 include the descriptively named  “Chattanooga Police Officer”, “Anonymous, Enthusiastic Man”, and “High School Homecoming” – all so pathetically sad, I’m actually starting to think the upcoming U2 concert might not be that bad.
