I can only assume that Will Smith is doing this to punish me for not watching Hitch. I mean, he remade The Karate Kid with his son as the lead, which was fine (awful) except for the part where there was no karate. And now he’s remaking Annie, with Jay-Z’s help. Look out for the ‘Hard Knock Life’ rap.

Now that we know Will Smith can make Hollywood do anything, I’m waiting for him to remake the Harry Potter franchise with his kids playing every character.

Willow Smith is apparently that girl from the ‘I whip my hair back and forth!’ song, which might actually be called ‘I whip my hair back and forth.’ Which obviously makes her the ideal candidate to play a recession-era orphan. Although they’ll probably be setting this guy a little further along in the century, if Columbia Picture’s comment that ‘“Jay-Z proved that the power of the underlying Broadway property remains, by showing how these songs could be reinterpreted for a new generation” means anything.
