My Macbook took the fall this morning. As I shovelled continuous mouthfuls of Sloppy Joes down my throat, I began watching a YouTube clip from last night’s episode of The Office, where Michael Scott bumps into David Brent. Suffice to say pieces of bolognaise machine-gunned into my screen and sandwiched themselves between my keys, as I reached levels of hysterics, the likes of which I have not experienced since I saw that infamous video of Bill O’Reilly losing the plot.
Maybe it’s just Ricky Gervais that I find so hilarious. His cackling for a start, which accompanies his persona as the unrepentant asshole that takes great pleasure in dismantling the credibility of every Hollywood actor, whether they’re Helen Mirren or Tim Allen. This guy is the embodiment of all that is awesome. For as good as the American show is, we all know that Ricky and Steve are the masters.
“Comedy is a place, where the mind goes to tickle itself. That’s what she said.” True wisdom.
