The End Of The Wallet As We Know It

The American coffee giant Starbucks announced this week that customers with iPhone and Blackberry smartphones can now download an application to purchase their daily fix. The app will display a bar code that the barista can scan and voila, off you go. How much longer until cards are rendered obsolete?

The company had tested the mobile payment service in some markets and announced Wednesday that it was rolling it out to all 6,800 company-run stores and more than 1,000 Starbuck stores. It anticipates the program will make it easier and faster for some of its customers to make purchases.

Hate to break it to you, yanks, but the ZAR has been rocking with a number of our very own e-Wallets for quite some time now.
