A bunch of Japanese scientists (how surprising) believe they have the technology to clone a woolly mammoth. Yes, you heard that right, they want to bring an extinct animal back to life, and are hoping to achieve this within the next six years. End of days here we come.
The group of barmy scientists from Kyoto University plan on extracting DNA from a fully preserved mammoth carcass, which is currently preserved in a Russian laboratory, and inserting it into the egg cells of an African elephant in the hopes of producing a cute little prehistoric animal.
Apparently their aim is to deduce why the animal became extinct in the first place. An argument that seems pretty counterintuitive if you ask me. Besides, didn’t these guys see Jurassic Park? Sure, it’s all smiles and high fives at first, but before your know it the pesky critter escapes in the night and goes on a killing rampage of epic proportions.
All of this begs the question…Whatever happened to cloning sheep?
