Part of what puzzles me so much about this video is that there is an audience. I’m not sure what’s worse: the fact that this man is totally useless or that there are actually people that (presumably) pay money to watch.
The man in question flies out of the blocks. He’s looking good (for two seconds) until he crashes into the first hurdle. He then does his best to execute the second spring better, but ends up landing and stumbling into the next lane (which, I assumed to be illegal).
The man’s clearly smart enough to know that hurdling is not for him, so he decides to use his arms to knock the next five hurdles off and run through as if they weren’t even there. All is going swimmingly until he tries to ‘knock off’ one too many and ends up tumbling into the lane next to him, which I’m sure we’ll agree was imminent. The man and the opponent to his left decide to end the race swapping lanes.
His final attempt to clear a hurdle is a legitimate effort, but it’s all in vain as he ends the race, without clearing a single one. The man then strolls off the track not looking too despondent by his efforts. He’d clearly tried his best and that’s what counts right?
What’s alarming is that the bloke next to him didn’t try to knock his block off. He effectively screwed his race up too! Clearly being a good loser is better than being a good hurdler.
In conclusion to this post, in which I have shown my true colours as an academic, it would appear that Llewellyn Herbert might have a future career as a hurdles coach in the Far East. I know these guys are short, but seriously.
