Those Scandinavians, darem. Not only do they have lovely fjords, now they’re also setting trends in the workplace. The latest management technique to come from Norway involves women wearing red armbands when it’s that time of the month. I kid you not.
A new report on bathroom rules at Norwegian workplaces (it was only a matter of time) found that at 66% of companies surveyed you have to ask your boss for a key to go to the toilet. One in three put their restrooms under video surveillance while some require staff to sign a toilet ‘visitor’s book’.
Of course one sorry sod had to take it up a notch and asked all his female staff members to explain their regular toilet breaks with red arm bands. Apparently the authorities are all over this and reckon that, “Toilet codes relating to menstrual cycles are clear violations of privacy.”
