Inventor Haidar Taleb is hitting two birds with one stone, sort of, by crossing all seven United Arab Emirates in a solar powered wheelchair to promote the use of renewable energy and raise awareness about causes for disabilities. Also, he’s going alone. And you can’t drink in most of the Emirates. And it’ll take 11 days. Road trip!
Taleb sets off on the 22nd from Fujairah, heading east to arrive in Abu Dhabi on the 2nd of December, stopping at a couple of universities on the way to talk about dealing with disabilities.
Granted, Taleb is sort of preaching to the choir in terms of supporting renewable energy – Abu Dhabi is the headquarters of the International Renewable Energy Agency – but hey, his ride can go up to 20km/h, so he’s all set to beat the Guinness World Record for distance travelled in a solar-powered wheelchair, which always impresses the ladies.
