In an inspirational story that will make you ask just what the hell you’ve done with your life, a Chinese man with no arms has won China’s Got Talent.
By playing the piano.
Liu Wei, 23, lost both of his arms at age 10 after being electrocuted during a game of hide-and-seek.
Liu was invited by Taiwanese singer Jolin Tsai to be a guest on her upcoming world tour which means he will be performing in Las Vegas for three months.
And perhaps most importantly, he narrowly pipped a 7-year-old standup comedian to first place. If nothing else, let’s all take the time to thank him for that.
What is a 7-year-old doing standup for anyway? Kids are not funny. They are dumb. How can they be expected to deliver subtle and insightful societal witticisms on the world around them when they don’t know anything?
It’s a strange world we live in when, in spite of losing both of his arms and perfecting the beautiful art of the piano, our man must still worry about whether he’ll lose a talent show to someone’s annoying kid making jokes about how he likes to pick his nose and rub ice-cream into the furniture.
