You may have read on this morning’s spice that Rupert Murdoch has laid claim to the “Sky” in “Skype”, right after Skype announced its plans to float on the Nasdaq stock exchange in New York.
The world’s most deliciously-evil media magnate has justified his claim by arguing that NewsCorp derivative BSkyB was established before Skype, and has now moved into a position of direct competition with Skype.
Seth rather wittily quips, “Apparently Murdoch is going after God next, for the actual sky.”
Well you’re WRONG, Seth.
Because Murdoch will have to take on Kulula first, before he takes on the I Am.
This isn’t entirely hot off the press news, but it’s apparently news to Murdoch. So for your education, Rupert, I present Kulula.com’s legal trade marking of the SkyTM.
It’s an absolutely sound legal argument.
But the beauty is really in the details of the trademarking.
And of course, the flexibility of it.

Ball’s in your court, Rupert.
