AN AIRPORT WORTH WAITING IN

If you pop over to the Maldives in the next few years (as one is prone to do), you might be inclined to hit an extended hang out at the airport in lieu of finding accommodation.

Haptic Architects (London) and Narud Stokke Wiig Architects (Oslo) have teamed up to provide a design for the Maldives new international airport, or rather, the Hanimaadhoo Airport. You pronounce that name “Yes please.”

Let’s just say they’ve embraced the whole ‘paradise island” vibe.

More specifically, the main terminal will be in a sparkling turquoise lagoon.

This place meets Vibe standards quite comfortably. Check out the pics after the jump. (Yes, heaven forbid, after the jump.)

Not a bad spot for a tan.

“I’m sorry, your flights been delayed, sir, there’s a little water in the engine.”

Apparently good looking island tourists will constitute part of the construction budget.

Shame. Not so crap. Hey?
