In the most stunningly apathetic move since Marie Antoinette told the dirty kids to shove off and eat their cake, Moscow’s regional governor suggested that residents should buy a helicopter if they’re suffering with road traffic congestion.
“I fly in a helicopter. (You) should also buy helicopters instead of cars – then you do not need roads,” Moscow Region governor Boris Gromov told journalists, the RIA Novosti news agency reported.
Hmmm. Looks like Boris’ comments are as irksome as they are unhelpful, because he’s the guy who signed off on the roadworks that are causing traffic jams.
I smell potential here.
Boris can set himself up to be THE GUY who got the ball rolling with sky-cars, surely one of the best ways to live the holiday. He just needs to play his cards right.
First, upgrade those roadworks. We’re not talking turning lanes anymore. Think flying motor vehicle docking stations, heli-pads and hovering energy station convenience stores (“get your pie in the sky!” – trademarking that RIGHT now).
Second, initiate a car trade in scheme for potential helicopter/sky-car buyers. Incentivise, Boris, incentivise.
Third, do the hard yards in parliament. We need legislation changed, Boris. Why should airspace be for officially-sanctioned aircraft, anyways?
And at all times, continue to maximise the leverage that you have with the name Boris. Apparently you can get away with anything if that’s your name. Ask this guy.
