Bafana Frenzy – “Let them bring their Mexican wave – we will bring vuvuzelas!” was the war cry of nearly 185000 South African fans who lined the streets of Johannesburg yesterday in support of Bafana Bafana. In return for the massive support shown them, the national squad vowed to play not only for former president Nelson Mandela but “for Africa as a whole”. [timeslive]
Let the festivities begin!
As some of you may have noticed, the vuvuzela is now officially in effect! I have heard at least the faint noise of a car hooter and/or vuvuzela now solidly since 12pm today. And I think we’d better get used to it – because this is only the start of this rollercoaster month we have ahead of us!
And I don’t have a problem with any of it.
