2oceansvibe partner brands are constantly winning worldwide recognition, and, whilst the brands themselves are very excited when these awards are given, I can’t say I am surprised. I mean, that is after all why they’re a part of vibe, right?
We only deal with winners around these parts!
This time it’s a gold medal for 2oceansvibe’s bubbly of choice, the Boschendal Grande Cuvée Brut !
Check it out:
Boschendal is delighted to bring home the only 2 gold medals for South African wine from the Monde Selection International Wine Competition 2010 held in Brussels recently. Boschendal Grande Cuvée Brut 2006 and Boschendal Chenin Blanc 2009 received the top honours.
Boschendal winemaker Lizelle Gerber considers success at international wine competitions extremely important in the current economic climate. “ International recognition is as important for a brand like Boschendal as it is for the South African wine industry,” she says. “International markets are currently reluctant to pay the high prices wines from traditional European wines command, and are looking for quality wines from countries like South Africa that offer great value.”
Over 1600 wines from more than 20 countries were judged by a panel of industry experts and under patronage of the strict rules of the International Organisation of Vines and Wines (OIV), only 30% of the entries were awarded medals .
“For Boschendal Chenin Blanc 2009 and Grande Cuvée 2006 bubbly, winning gold medals at the Monde Selection where they are compared to some of the best in the world, not only honours our winemaking and vineyards, but is also a tremendous boost for our image particularly when all eyes are on South Africa in 2010.”
Well done, guys! But, as I said, I’m not overly surprised!
