A mobile phone company in Bulgaria has suspended a particular mobile phone number, 0888 888 888, after “every single person assigned to it died in the last 10 years.”
This from IOL:
The first owner, Vladimir Grashnov – the former CEO of Bulgarian mobile phone company Mobitel, which issued the number – died of cancer in 2001 aged just 48…
The jinxed number then passed to Bulgarian mafia boss Konstantin Dimitrov.
He was gunned down in 2003 by a lone assassin in the Netherlands during a trip to inspect his £500-million drug-smuggling empire…
The phone number then passed to crooked businessman Konstantin Dishliev.
He was gunned down outside an Indian restaurant in Bulgaria’s capital Sofia in 2005, after taking over the jinxed line.
Estate agent Dishliev had secretly been running a massive cocaine trafficking operation before his assassination…
Now spooked phone bosses are said to have suspended the number, which from an international line is +359 888 888 888, for good.
OK, so let’s just get this straight:
A guy has a number, and he happens to die of cancer. That’s unfortunate, but people sometimes die of cancer. It’s a none-too-pleasant fact of life.
Then the number passes to A DRUGLORD. Who gets shot on the job. I’m sorry, but last I checked, getting shot (or getting someone else shot) is on the potential daily to-do list of every druglord, in history, ever.
Next, the number goes to an estate agent, who is also shot. Estate agent? Weird…Maybe even creepy…EXCEPT THAT HE WAS A DRUGLORD, TOO.
May I posit a theory? Maybe the line isn’t cursed. Maybe cancer happens, and getting into the multi-billion dollar blow business is something of a risky venture.
Damnit. Lay off of the nose candy already. You’ll get shot less, and you’ll get to keep your cool numbers.
