The world is mourning a legend. Paul the psychic octopus has died at his home at the Oberhausen Sea Life Centre in Germany. His death has been expected however, as octpuses (I prefer octpi) generally only live for a couple of years. Paul was born in January 2008.
“He appears to have passed away peacefully during the night, of natural causes, and we are consoled by the knowledge that he enjoyed a good life here,” Said the manager of the centre, Stefan Porwoll.
“We may decide to give Paul his own small burial plot within our grounds and erect a modest permanent shrine.”
Not only that but apparently Paul will live on in the form of a range of commercial enterprises ranging from special clothing lines to mobile phone applications. He will also feature in a documentary to be released early next year. Wow, things aren’t being taken too far at all.
You might remember when 2oceansvibe reported on how he shocked Germany by prediciting that Spain would win the 2010 South Africa World Cup.
Paul will surely be missed here at 2oceansvibe.
