Anyone keeping their eyes on bizcommunity.com should have caught the article by Herman Manson about the 2010 campaign theme for the Loerie Awards – the advertising industry’s Oscars.
A bit of background on The Loeries for the uninformed:
The Loerie Awards were first held in 1978, as a mechanism to support and grow television advertising. Since then the awards have expanded to encompass every area of brand communication including radio and print advertising, design, architecture, direct marketing, non-broadcast video, live events, and digital media. The awards are now regionally focussed on Africa and the Middle East, and only entries from this region are eligible.
And here’s the vibe they went for this year:
See what they did there?
Get it?
Pretty funny. I look forward to seeing how anal FIFA will get about that. Especially since they seem to be allowed to make laws up as they go along.
You probably find that will be hit with an eight million Rand fine or something like that. Maybe the people who conceptualised the poster will be hanged in the Cape Town stadium and Bafana Bafana will be forced to kick soccer balls at them. All night long.
Who knows!?
Check out the rest of the posters here.
