I feel quite bad that I chilled at Pearl Valley until just before the concert. It kills me that we drove in at the last minute and got VIP parking and grabbed a beer before being escorted to the Heineken VIP tent and then into the Golden Circle. I genuinely do feel bad.

I’m told the parking was an absolute nightmare at the end – one reader emailed me and confirmed that it took him five and a half hours to get out of the venue! Huh? Seriously? Shame, dude – that’s pretty hectic. You could have walked to Hermanus in that time.
The concert itself? Wow. Honestly. Say what you want – we were given a full blown concert by one of the world’s leading bands. They’re a slick outfit and deserve full credit. Stories of backstage prima-donna behaviour….. whatever – it’s The Killers – put their God-damn water bottles where they want them. Those guys sweat more during a concert than you do at the gym. Is it REALLY such a big deal?
I was in the queue after the concert (after having a little “boogie” in the Heineken tent) and noticed some Bentleys and other “important” cars driving past the queue with their hazards on.
“Very cool!” I said to The Muse. “That’s obviously a special high-speed lane for cars with hazard lights!”
As some of you will know, due to Audi’s cutting edge technology, the TT also comes with hazards. How cool is that? What LUCK! So I turned them on and joined the hazard light gang – all the way to the front gate! Thanks to the organisers for making the special queue – and thanks Audi Centre Cape Town for thinking of that!
So The Photographer (check out his website verstercohen.com) took some pics which you saw above. He also spent most of his hangover tinkering with iMovie on his Mac and managed to put together this very cool little clip!
As the French say, “SUPER KEWL!!!”
Oh, just also wanted to say that Brandon Flowers and his Johnny Wilkinson stance when he sings is nearly enough to make a straight man gay.
If I were up there I can confirm that my stage act/presence would be VERY similar to his. It would actually be awkward how similar we would be. Thank God he doesn’t have to deal with that.
