Those of you who watched the recent interview I did with 2oceansvibe Character, The Barndog (AKA Springbok captain, John Smit) will know that besides discussing his new book (launches on the 15th, due to an EMBARGO), we also discussed Twitter and all things tweet related. In the video I also mentioned how I had hand-reared fellow 2oceansvibe Character, “The Character Formerly Known As The Loose Forward” (Bob Skinstad) in the ways of Twitter. Until, one day, he called me and said he had more followers than I did. Well, his exact words were, “You know that part in the Karate Kid where the student outwits the master?”
Haha!
I was sad….and happy. I kicked him out the nest and watched him fly for the first time. Now he tweets all the time! I couldn’t be prouder.
Now I have John, my second born.
I think what might have pushed John over the edge, was a moment last week where he sent me an MMS with the following image attached and the words, “Surely that doesn’t say Wanqo’s?”
To demonstrate the power of Twitter, I resent his MMS as a tweet from my iPhone and then emailed him back (also from my iPhone) with a link to the 2oceansvibe Twitter feed, saying, “And now it’s being seen by 2,400 people – surely it’s time for you to join Twitter – you know you want to!”
And the rest, it appears, is history. As our boy joined the party on Sunday.
And look at him go!

Well done, Barndog – we’re all very proud of you.
So everyone out there, let’s show Barndog a warm 2oceansvibe welcome (and a bit of pressure) and get following him at www.twitter.com/johnsmit123
Did I tell you that Will Carling started following me this weekend?
No spice.
