It’s been going on for a few weeks now and most of you will be aware of the Real Men That Can’t Sing Facebook page , which had a competition to win an iPod Touch if you correctly guessed the brand behind the RealMenThatCantSing.com website.
My goodness, I got completely lost in the website – not lost in terms of navigation, but because it had SO many radical off-the-wall videos of guys singing that I had to restrain myself from sending anymore to my buddies.
The website has a similar setup to YouTube and if you haven’t been there I strongly advise you go right now!
Here is one of my personal favourites:
I speak no word of a lie when I tell you that my grandmother used to make me sing Jan Pierewiet when I was a kid. Which is weird, given that I’m English. Well, Swiss, if you want to get pedantic.
The competition is over and the answer has been revealed – it was none other than Klipdrift – South Africa’s favourite Brandy!
Hah! It’s not surprising they were the brains behind it, given the success of their much loved TV ads. And now they are successfully entering the online space of social media!
Very clever indeed – using the the platform of music (spurred on by the “Choir Practice” TV Commercial – here), the brand has managed to connect with a younger market and in turn encourage new SA music talent by giving them a break (as it were).
A very successful campaign, I’d say. Especially since the idea is not sponsored by Klipdrift, but is in fact their own property. Go Klippies!

*And here is a secret bonus link to my all-time favourite Klipdrift ad – the “met eish” commercial here. It’s too good!.
