So it was the MTV Movie Awards this weekend. The evening produced many a highlight, not least of which was Sacha Baron Cohen character, Bruno‘s high-wire act “malfunction” which resulted in him landing on top of Eminem (here). The teabagging exercise ended with Eminem and his entourage storming out of the awards.

Subsequent reports have surfaced suggesting/confirming that the entire event was staged. Ja. Serious. To the point that they even rehearsed it, balls and all. I sniffed around and got this for you from Hollywood Insider:

Eminem/Bruno stunt at MTV Movie Awards was staged, sources say

Sources close to MTV and Sacha Baron Cohen tell EW that the infamous stunt on the show between Eminem and the Bruno star was staged, with Eminem’s consent and participation. The sources confirm rampant speculation that the rapper simply must have known that the comedian, dressed in a thong and angel’s wings as his flamboyantly gay alter ego Bruno, would fall from a high-wire harness onto the rapper’s lap and straddle his face.

Meanwhile, comedy writer Scott Aukerman, who says he was the head comedy writer for the awards show, also claims on his blog that “the Bruno/Eminem incident was staged,” explaining “they rehearsed it at dress and yes, it went as far as it did on the live show.”

MTV and Eminem have had no comment.

Ja, I bet they dont.

MTV award show was great. The Bruno/Eminem thing was crazy. All the chicks are unbelievably skinny. Can’t believe how much skinnier in person. Cameron Diaz shocked me the most. Everyone going crazy for Robert Pattinson….I felt old as I just don’t get him. After party was cool, everyone mingling. Fun night.

Not to come across shallow or anything, it should be mentioned that The Italian and I only talk about celebrities and tennis players (usually Nadal or Ivanovic).

By the way, have you seen the music video for Eminem’s new tune “Rock Star?” If you haven’t, you need to – it’s just wonderful.
