EVERYONE knows it’s Barbie’s 50th anniversary this year, and what better way to celebrate than to launch a limited edition blinged out Barbie version of the Fiat 500!
Look, we know that it’s next to impossible for Barbie to still be in the same good nick after 50 years, and we DID recently feature a new modern day Barbie 2 (here) but that doesn’t mean she can’t celebrate!
Daddy’s princess!
It’s so preeeeeeetty!
That’ll last long in Jo’burg
Fine
All over my stick
Not for long
Made in collaboration with Mattel, the Fiat 500 Barbie comes fitted with Swarovski crystal-encrusted hubcaps, window moldings and antenna. The crystals even outline the doll’s famous silhouette. The seating is done in silver laminated Alcantara fabrics. There’s a light-up vanity mirror. Only five examples have been made and each costs 100,000 Euros.
A number of Barbie editions have been rolled out in the past, including a light pink Chevrolet Corvette convertible and many editions of Ferrari Barbie. The 2001 Ferrari Barbie wore a red evening gown and a silvery hair ornament that resemble the Prancing Horse logo. The pink Fiat 500 Barbie edition will be unveiled on March 2009 during anniversary celebrations for the world-famous doll.
My goodness. Can you JUST imagine the sight of a little 18 year old ex-Herschel UCT first year angel cruising around the ‘burbs in one of those puppies.
*sigh*
Yu! One should erase that image from one’s mind.
But what I would want is to see is the state of those Swarovski crystal-encrusted hubcaps after our little princess has been parallel parking with the UCT back line, during a night out at Tiger-Tiger..
