Ok, just to bring you up to speed, Mel Gibson’s wife is filing for divorce and wants at LEAST half of his nearly $1 billion fortune. That would leave her with somewhere between five and ten billion Rand which, as you might have worked out, will be a new celebrity divorce record!

MSNBC reports:

 

Michael Jordan ponied up $168 million following his 2006 divorce with wife Juanita; Neil Diamond [ow shaiya neville] forked over $150 million after his 1994 split with Marcia Murphey; while Steven Spielberg shelled out $100 million following his 1989 divorce from Amy Irving.

Among Gibson’s estimated assets: More than $600 million grossed by “The Passion of the Christ” alone, $100-plus million in real estate investments worldwide (he bought an island in Fiji for $15 million in 2004), and $75 million for film and TV projects for which Gibson executive produced.

Of course there might be another woman involved and there has been growing speculation over who it might. The media have been focusing their energies on one little angel for the moment, Russian pop singer Oksana Pochepa; who was snapped “frolicking in the surf with Mel” earlier this year.

THIS is the Russian pop singer who last night claimed to be the mystery girl blamed for ending MEL GIBSON’s marriage.

Sexy OKSANA POCHEPA, 24, says she has fallen for the 53-year-old actor and hopes their love is “strong and long-lasting”.

She revealed she was the woman snapped frolicking in the surf with Mel earlier this year.

The photos sparked a storm of speculation about Mel’s 28-year marriage.

On Monday, just weeks after they were published, the movie legend’s wife ROBYN GIBSON, 52, filed for divorce.

Smitten Oksana, who first hit the Russian charts aged 13, said yesterday: “This is serious and I hope that our union will be real and strong and long-lasting.

“We are different people, but Mel is a grown man and knows precisely what he wants and me too — I know what I want.”

The singer, who is also a model, claimed to have visited Mel on the set of a movie in Boston last summer. But she added the two were not yet ready to go public with details of their love. She said: “I would not like to say more right now.”

Meanwhile, some sources in the US yesterday claimed that more than one woman could be involved in Mel’s romantic riddle.

They noted the girl he was often snapped with on set in Boston last year does not look like Oksana.

Others claimed the Russian beauty has never been involved with Mel at all.
