The first time I heard this song, Sideways (or anything by Citizen Cope, for that matter), was about a year ago. It was a rehashed version with Carlos Santana, which Citizen Cope’s staunch faithful believe over-punctuated the song, taking away too much from Cope’s (Clarence Greenwood) intention. Personally I loved it.
Enjoying Rolling Stone reports that his music is a blend of hip-hop, rock and R&B, I decided to download Citizen Cope’s 2004 (second) record, “The Clarence Greenwood Recordings”, which I’m getting into nicely (loving the track Pablo Picasso).
According to Wikipedia the album ” became an underground classic and has sold more than 273,000 records to date, www.health-canada-pharmacy.com/skin-care.html without any commercial or college radio play. From 2004 through 2008, Citizen Cope endured a heavy tour schedule.”
Quitemean! There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with becoming an “underground classic!” It reminds me of No Matter, that underground Cape Town “beach hip-hop” classic by Will & G , which became Cape Town’s hottest summer song a few years back.
Check out the original version of Citizen Cope’s song, SIDEWAYS.
Pretty sick. Probably just what you needed.
But do yourself a favour and check out the Santana version HERE. Personally I’m FINE with Carlos throwing in his vibe. It works well with this, my fourth double Jameson’s..
