A couple months back I told you about Taxijam, the incredible new underground music video concept featuring artists playing in the back of a local taxi. Started by 2oceansvibe Character The Film Guy (Richard) and his cousin Simon, it’s gaining rapid momentum and has featured the likes of 2oceansvibe’s favourite The Dirty Skirts and our very own G-Man.

So anyway, Siraj appeared before me (like a vision) the other day at Caprice and asked if I remembered Yoav Sadan, who was at school with us.

“Of course I remember Yoav Sadan,” I said unto him, “that guy was like a musical genius at school and has apparently taken the world by storm. Didn’t he open for some big names overseas?”

“Big time,” confirmed Siraj, “he did more than that, he SUPPORTED Tori Amos for an entire tour – 40 shows!”

“”Ja, that’s the one! What about him?”

“He is in town and is keen on getting involved with Taxijam. But is only available for the next two weeks.”

“Jesus,” I replied, “lemmie see what I can do.”

I called my boys at Taxijam and Yoav was climbing into a taxi the next day at 6pm. No-one was overly surprised – that kind of shit happens the whole time in the 2oceansvibe.

Before I show you the video, I just want to tell you one story about Yoav that I remember hearing. He was 15 at the time and went with his buddies to a Crowded House concert in Cape Town. The band asked the audience who would like to come on stage and play a song. Another kid went and he sucked. Yoav’s buddies went ballistic and, after enough pleading, managed to get them to let Yoav on stage. He played Into Temptation and got a full stadium ovation.
