I was watching the Louis Theroux interview series on DVD earlier this week. You remember I mentioned DVD Nouveau the other day, right? Ja, so the Louis Theroux series comes highly recommended. By me. That’s right. El stampo of approvio.
So anyway, in the one episode, Louis goes to white racist America and spends time with some of America’s most notorious white supremacist racists. Nothing too alarming there, as South Africans we’ve certainly experienced our fair share. More importantly, or perhaps more attention grabbing for me, were the 11 year old blonde twin angels who appeared in the segment. They also happened to be the pop duo known as Prussian Blue.
Gorgeous little monsters
It was quite an amazing vibe they were going for – their music and lyrics dealing solely with racism and hate. Awesome vibe! The mother was also something to behold and basically called off the interview when she found herself struggling to answer Louis’s basic, logical questions.
Wikipedia fills us in as to the family’s movements:
The duo moved with their mother (April Gaede), their stepfather (Mark Harrington) and their younger half-sister, Dresden from Bakersfield, California to Kalispell, Montana in 2006 because, in their mother’s words, Bakersfield was “not white enough.” Some of their new neighbors did not welcome them; many city residents passed out fliers warning of the duo’s views, and signs proclaiming “No Hate Here” appeared on a few windows around the town. Some of the people who passed out flyers received threatening letters from members of out-of-state white supremacist organizations. The Montana Human Rights Network planned a rally in Kalispell to protest the family’s white nationalist views
Awesome vibe, hey?
Do yourself a favour and rent the DVD set.
For now I just wanted to show you that picture of the gorgeous little monsters.
