I don’t know why everyone is talking about the “World markets” when something far more serious is under foot. That being the fact that David and Victoria Beckham’s housekeepers (and son) have been arrested for stealing their possessions and attempting to flog them on eBay.
David and Victoria Beckham, sleeping.
That is how they sleep. Upright like that.
SKY News reports:
The couple’s former housekeepers Eric and June Emmett were arrested on suspicion of theft on Friday and released on police bail.
It is now known their 25-year-old son Gareth was detained by police on Monday evening in Essex.
He was released on bail to appear at a police station in Hertfordshire next month.
His father told reporters: “What is in the papers is fabricated nonsense. Totally fabricated, 99% of it is totally untrue.”
Suspicions were raised when memorabilia belonging to the former England captain and his pop star wife apparently appeared on the eBay auction site.
According to reports, Victoria Beckham’s parents Tony and Jackie Adams spotted some of their daughter’s designer clothes and David’s football gear on offer to bidders.
Posh’s parents then discovered the items were missing from the couple’s Rowneybury House mansion in Hertfordshire – dubbed “Beckingham Palace“.
A spokeswoman for eBay later said the internet auction site had completed its own internal investigation and handed the relevant information to Hertfordshire Police.
A spokesman for the Beckhams said: “There has been an incident and the matter is in the hands of the police. I cannot comment any further.”
Hertfordshire Police said in a statement: “Three people have been arrested over the theft. A 56-year-old woman and a 55-year-old man from Essex were arrested in Essex on Friday.
“A 25-year-old man from Essex was arrested yesterday evening. He has been bailed to a police station in Hertfordshire in November.”
Pretty serious stuff.
Couple of things though. I wonder what the 1% truth is, to which the housekeeper refers? Is it that he stole stuff but didn’t put it on eBay? Or did he steal nothing and then put something else on eBay. But then that is not stealing. Perhaps he only put SOME of the stolen things on eBay?
And lastly, I am ever so slightly concerned that Victoria’s parents spend their time searching for their daughter and son-in-law’s memorabilia on the internet. Surely that’s tantamount to being caught smelling someone’s underwear?
I’d just be cautious, you know, if I was David.
